Do you live in the Upper Valley area of New Hampshire or Vermont? Do you want the opportunity to see your work in print? Have I got a deal for you.
I am editing a group of short articles for Upper Valley Life magazine that will appear in its July/August 2008 issue. This opportunity is especially good for beginning writers, people who need to gain some writing credentials.
Here are the specifics:
Each article will be no more than 500 words.
The subject is specific. Choose one of your favorite spots in the Upper Valley, a place that tourists would not ordinarily visit. Write a piece that describes this spot, including directions to find it.
Locations must be open to the public.
Ideas could include your favorite apple orchard, a great place to see a sunset, where to rent kayaks for the day, a particular vista, a local sugaring operation that welcomes visitors, a family-friendly picnic spot or hiking trail.
Ideas for articles must be submitted to Sonja Hakala at bkcoach@sover.net no later that February 15, 2008 so that we will have time to send a photographer to the location to take pictures if your idea is accepted. We have space for 8 articles.
Writers must have reliable and regular access to email. All submissions must be electronic.
Deadline for accepted articles is April 15, 2008.
If you have questions, please email Sonja.
